Donner Lake West End Dispersed Camping
Several dispersed camping spots spread along the rocky west shoreline of Donner Lake, offering dramatic views across the water to the Sierra peaks. Sites vary from lakeside pull-offs to more secluded spots back in the trees, most accommodating rigs up to 30 feet. Fire restrictions in effect summer through fall — check current conditions. Gets busy on weekends with locals and I-80 traffic.
Access via Donner Pass Road just west of the lake — look for established fire rings and obvious camping areas. No facilities, pack out all trash. Best in late spring through early fall when snow clears. Some sites muddy during snowmelt.
