Aguas Calientes Hot Springs Purmamarca
These natural hot springs sit in a narrow quebrada about 8km from Purmamarca’s main plaza, accessible via a rough dirt track that requires high-clearance. Three main pools cascade down the rocky canyon, ranging from scalding at the source to perfectly warm at the bottom. The minerals stain the rocks orange and white, and steam rises constantly from the 40°C water. Local families sometimes camp nearby on weekends.
The access road branches off RN52 just past the Salinas Grandes turnoff. No facilities — bring everything you need. The track gets sketchy in wet weather, and flash flooding is possible during summer storms. Best visited early morning or late afternoon to avoid the harsh midday sun.
