Cerro de los Siete Colores Mirador
The iconic overlook for Argentina’s most photographed mountain, where iron oxides and mineral deposits create distinct color bands ranging from deep purple to bright yellow. The viewpoint sits on a small hill just outside Purmamarca, accessed by a short but steep 4WD track that climbs about 200 meters above the village. Best lighting occurs during golden hour, roughly 6-7 AM and 5-6 PM.
The access road is rocky and narrow, requiring high-clearance 4WD during wet conditions but manageable for sturdy 2WD vehicles when dry. Parking space for 4-5 vehicles at the top. Local vendors sometimes set up at the base of the hill selling textiles and snacks. No facilities at the viewpoint itself — plan accordingly.
