Conaf Camping Chinchorro Arica

Established Campground

Simple CONAF-managed campground stretched along Playa Chinchorro’s dark sand beach, with basic facilities including pit toilets, cold-water showers, and designated fire areas. Sites are mostly open sand with scattered tamarisk trees providing minimal shade. Holds about 30 vehicles comfortably, though no formal site boundaries. Popular with Chilean families during summer holidays.

Good staging area for overlanders heading to Parque Nacional Lauca or the Bolivian border crossing at Chungará. City of Arica 6 kilometers south offers full resupply, fuel, and mechanical services. Beach can be windy and gets occasional fog, but mornings are usually calm. Water from hand pump—bring purification tablets.
