Cedar Lake Recreation Area Campground
Cedar Lake sits tucked in the Ouachita National Forest with 29 campsites spread across rolling hills dotted with oak and pine. Half the sites can handle RVs up to 22 feet, though the roads wind tight through the trees. The lake stays busy with local anglers on weekends but settles down midweek. Fire rings and picnic tables at each site, vault toilets scattered throughout, but no hookups or dump station.
Access is straightforward off Highway 59 south of Heavener — 3 miles of paved forest road that’s well-maintained year-round. The boat ramp gets you on the water for bass and catfish, though the lake runs shallow in late summer. Campground typically fills on holiday weekends, but finding a spot most other times isn’t a problem.
