This roadside pullout along Oklahoma Highway 1 provides one of the finest mountain vistas in the state, looking east across the Ouachita National Forest toward Arkansas. The view stretches for miles across forested ridges and valleys, particularly stunning during October when the hardwoods turn brilliant orange and red. A few picnic tables and an interpretive sign mark the spot.
The pullout is right on the paved Talimena Scenic Drive, about 15 miles east of Talihina. No facilities beyond the picnic tables, but it’s a worthy photo stop and leg-stretcher when running the mountain roads. Fall weekends can see tour buses, so early morning offers the best light and fewer crowds.
