This provincial park sits right on the Alaska Highway at mile 462, wrapped around the emerald waters of Muncho Lake with the Sentinel Range rising straight up from the water. The main campground has 15 sites scattered through spruce forest, most with lake views, plus basic amenities including pit toilets and hand-pump water. Sites fill up quick in summer with Alaska Highway traffic, but the scenery makes it worth the crowds.
Access is directly off the highway on paved roads. Open mid-May through September depending on snow. The lake stays cold year-round, but it’s perfect for photos at sunrise when the mountains reflect off that distinctive jade-colored water.
