Seljavellir Geothermal Pool
This modest geothermal pool sits beside a gravel parking area just off Route 1, making it easily accessible for overlanders. The concrete-lined pool maintains a comfortable temperature year-round, though it’s quite small and can accommodate maybe six people. No facilities except the pool itself, and users are expected to follow Leave No Trace principles.
Located about 20km east of Selfoss on the south side of the Ring Road. The pool is visible from the road, and the short gravel access track is suitable for any vehicle. Popular with motorcycle and bicycle tourists as well as 4WD travelers. Busy during summer evenings but often empty early morning or late at night.
