Eldborg Volcanic Crater Trailhead
Small gravel parking area serves the trailhead to Eldborg, a 200-meter wide volcanic crater rising from ancient lava fields. The 3-kilometer round-trip hike crosses moss-covered lava rock to the crater rim. Views extend across Borgarfjörður and the surrounding volcanic landscape.
Accessed via rough gravel road off Route 54. High-clearance vehicles recommended for final 2 kilometers. No facilities at trailhead. Trail can be slippery when wet. Best visited during dry weather with good visibility.
