Quehanna Wild Area South Fire Tower Road Dispersed Sites
A handful of informal camping spots line the old fire tower access road that climbs through second-growth forest and patches of wild blueberry. The sites are nothing fancy — pull-offs that locals and hunters have used for decades, with room for 2-3 rigs at most locations. No facilities, just raw forest camping with decent privacy between spots. The area sees steady use during hunting seasons but stays quiet most of spring and summer.
Access is via the main Quehanna Highway, then south on the unsigned fire tower road. The lower mile is decent gravel, but it gets rougher as you climb. High-clearance helps but isn’t mandatory for the first few sites. No cell service once you’re in the woods.
