Fishlake National Forest Gooseberry Creek Dispersed Area

Dispersed Camping

A dozen primitive sites scattered along Gooseberry Creek in aspen and spruce forest. Most spots handle one rig with room for a tent, a few larger clearings for group camping. Established fire rings and decent spacing between sites. Creek provides water source that runs clear most of the season. Popular staging area for Paiute Trail riders and hunters in fall. Elevation keeps it cool even in summer — bring warm gear for nights.

Access via Forest Road 123 from Highway 12 south of Richfield — rocky dirt road requiring high clearance. Snow typically blocks access until late May, sometimes later after heavy winters. Sites start filling by Friday during peak summer weekends. No services, no cell coverage.
