Moshannon State Forest Jerry Run Dispersed Sites
A string of primitive campsites following the remnants of a 1940s logging railroad grade, with Jerry Run cutting through granite pools below. The dispersed sites accommodate everything from single tents to large expedition rigs, each with natural windbreaks from second-growth oak and maple. Water access is easy via short trails down to the creek, and the old railroad bed provides level parking.
The access road deteriorates into loose shale for the final mile — high-clearance recommended after spring thaw. Popular with local hunters during fall season. Creek levels drop significantly during late summer dry spells.
