Moraine State Park Campground
Moraine’s massive campground spreads across 11 loops around Lake Arthur, offering everything from primitive tent sites to full-hookup RV spots. The modern facilities include flush toilets, hot showers, camp store, and even a swimming beach. While not exactly backcountry, it makes an excellent staging area for deeper Allegheny Forest expeditions — you’re 45 minutes from serious 4×4 territory but can shower and resupply here.
Reservations are essential from Memorial Day through October, especially for lakefront sites. The campground sits at 1,050 feet elevation with rolling terrain and mature oak-maple forest. Some loops stay open year-round for hardy winter campers. Internal roads are paved, but a few sites require short walks from parking areas.
