Parque Nacional Natural Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta Camping Pueblo Bello
This established campground sits at the gateway to Sierra Nevada’s high country, surrounded by cloud forest and offering stunning views of the snow-capped peaks when weather permits. The site has basic facilities including pit toilets and a covered cooking area, with space for about 8-10 tents on terraced platforms. Water comes from a mountain spring that runs year-round, and temperatures drop significantly at night even in the dry season.
Access requires a 45-minute drive on rough dirt roads from Pueblo Bello town, passable in dry conditions but treacherous when wet. The final 2 kilometers are particularly steep and rocky. Indigenous permits are required for any hiking beyond the immediate campground area, arranged through the park office in Santa Marta. Best visited during the December-March dry season.
