Campamento Ejidal Sierra de Órganos
This ejidal campground sits in a natural amphitheater surrounded by the towering volcanic spires that give Sierra de Órganos its name. Eight designated camping spots with fire rings and basic pit toilets serve overlanders exploring the area’s technical rock formations and hidden caves. The ejido charges a modest fee that goes toward maintaining trails and facilities.
Access via a well-maintained gravel road that branches west from Highway 45 about 12 kilometers north of Sombrerete. The campground stays busy on Mexican holidays but sees few visitors during weekdays. A natural spring 400 meters uphill provides fresh water, though flow decreases significantly during the dry season from February through May.
