Dispersed Camping Hole in the Wall Road
String of primitive campsites scattered along the rough dirt road leading to Hole in the Wall slot canyon. Classic Utah red rock scenery with juniper and sage dotting the landscape. Sites are just pullouts with room for one or two rigs each — no facilities, no water, no cell service. Pack it in, pack it out. Fire restrictions often in effect May through October.
Access via Hole in the Wall Road off Highway 12, about 15 miles northeast of Escalante. Road gets rougher as you go — high-clearance recommended, 4WD for the final miles to the slot canyon itself. Sites fill up during peak season, but there’s usually something available if you’re flexible.
