Fort Yargo State Park
Fort Yargo offers 40 sites spread between wooded areas and open lakefront spots on Marbury Creek Lake. The park stays busy on weekends with families drawn to the beach and rental boats, but weekdays are quieter for overlanders. Sites have water and electric hookups, with bathhouses and a dump station. Fire rings and picnic tables at each site.
The park entrance is right off Highway 211, just 2 miles from Winder for fuel and supplies. Open year-round, though the beach area gets packed Memorial Day through Labor Day. The historic fort ruins and CCC-built structures make for interesting evening walks after setting up camp.
