Carhenge Alliance Nebraska Stonehenge Replica
Jim Reinders built this automotive monument in 1987 using cars from a family junkyard — Cadillacs, Buicks, and pickup trucks arranged in the exact proportions of England’s Stonehenge. The cars are welded in place, some standing on end as trilithons, others flat as altar stones. It’s simultaneously ridiculous and oddly moving, sitting in rolling farmland under that massive prairie sky.
The site is free and open 24/7, with a small visitor center that’s hit-or-miss on hours. Alliance is 3 miles south on Highway 87 — fuel up there because the next services are 50 miles in any direction. Summer brings tour buses, but spring and fall you might have the whole absurd monument to yourself.
