Natural Bridges National Monument
Natural Bridges preserves three of the world’s largest natural stone bridges — Sipapu, Kachina, and Owachomo — carved by stream erosion over millions of years in the white and red Cedar Mesa sandstone. The 9-mile Bridge View Drive connects overlooks of each bridge, with short trails leading to spectacular viewpoints and longer hikes descending into the canyons for up-close views. Sipapu Bridge spans 268 feet and stands 220 feet high, making it the second-largest natural bridge in the world. The monument sits on Cedar Mesa at 6,500 feet elevation, surrounded by pinyon-juniper forest and slickrock country.
Access is via Highway 275 from Highway 95, about 40 miles northwest of Blanding. The loop drive is paved but narrow in places, suitable for RVs up to 21 feet. Winter brings snow and possible road closures, though the monument stays open year-round. The visitor center is unstaffed October through March. This is dark sky country — Natural Bridges was the world’s first International Dark Sky Park, making it exceptional for stargazing when weather permits.
