Lake Pukaki DOC Holiday Park
Forty-three sites spread across grassy terraces above Lake Pukaki’s turquoise waters, with Aoraki Mount Cook dominating the skyline. Mix of powered and unpowered sites, plus a handful of basic cabins. The powered sites along the lake edge are worth the extra cost for the sunrise views alone. Clean amenity blocks, camp kitchen, and a small shop for basics. Gets packed during peak season (December-February), but shoulder seasons offer more space and calmer conditions.
Located 2km off State Highway 8, about 55km from Mount Cook Village. The access road is sealed but can get rough in the final approach to the lakefront sites. No advance bookings for sites — first-come basis, so arrive early during busy periods. The holiday park serves as a strategic resupply and rest point between Canterbury high country runs and Central Otago trails.
