Camping Pletzalm Gerlos
Perched in the Tyrolean Alps at 1,300 meters, this family-operated campground sits in a natural bowl surrounded by spruce forest and alpine meadows. The site offers 80 mixed pitches on terraced grass, with modern facilities including heated bathrooms, coin-op laundry, and a small on-site shop stocking basics. Views stretch across the Gerlos Valley toward the Hohe Tauern peaks.
Access via paved mountain road that can get steep and winding. Open May through mid-October, weather permitting. The campground serves as an excellent staging point for TET-Central routes through the region and connects to numerous alpine hiking trails. Book ahead during July-August when German and Austrian families fill most sites.
Alpine base camp in the heart of Zillertal.
