Disko Island Qeqertarsuaq Harbor Fuel Depot

This small fuel depot sits at the edge of Qeqertarsuaq harbor, primarily serving research vessels and the occasional overland expedition. Two aging pumps dispense diesel and gasoline when the weather cooperates and supply ships have made their seasonal runs. The facility operates sporadically — sometimes locked for weeks during storms or when fuel runs low between supply deliveries.

Access requires the ferry from Ilulissat or chartered helicopter. The depot keeper speaks Danish and Greenlandic, limited English. Fuel prices run 3-4x European rates. Cash or Danish kroner preferred. Verify availability before making the crossing — many expeditions have found pumps dry or facility closed.
