Kangerlussuaq Airport Fuel Station

Fuel Station

Kangerlussuaq’s airport fuel station is the critical refueling point for any overland expedition heading into Greenland’s interior. Located at the civilian terminal complex, it’s the only reliable fuel source between the coast and the ice sheet research stations. The facility stocks aviation fuel, diesel, and gasoline, with the diesel pumps handling the heavy tracked vehicles used for ice sheet transport. Expect queues during the summer research season when cargo flights and overland convoys resupply simultaneously.

Access is straightforward via the paved airport road from town. The station operates year-round but has limited hours during the dark winter months. Fuel prices reflect the remote location and airlift costs. This is your last chance for fuel before heading north toward the ice sheet or west on the Arctic Circle Trail approach roads.
