Hamburger Rock Campground — Indian Creek BLM Campground Near Needles District
Hamburger Rock is a small BLM campground a short gravel spur off Highway 211, the road to the Needles District. Sites sit among rounded sandstone formations. The place has a quiet, scattered-boulder feel, and it’s popular with climbers working Indian Creek. Expect pit toilets, a table and fire ring at the sites, and no potable water, so fill your tanks in Monticello before you head in. It’s first-come, first-served and the handful of sites go fast in spring and fall.
It makes a solid staging camp for Elephant Hill. You can roll into the park at first light for a better shot at a parking spot at the trailhead, and you avoid fighting for a Squaw Flat site. Spring and fall are prime. Summer runs hot and shadeless. The spur is short and any vehicle can handle it. Check current BLM fee, fire restrictions and site count before you go. Pack out all trash. Have a dirty day.
