This BLM-managed area surrounds Bowman-Haley Reservoir, offering scattered campsites along the shoreline and ridges above the water. Most spots are large enough for big rigs, with level ground and fire rings left by previous campers. The reservoir attracts serious walleye and northern pike fishermen, especially during spring and fall runs. Expect company on weekends but solitude midweek.
Access via gravel roads that can get muddy after rain. No services — pack water and pack out trash. The dam road provides good cell signal for final communications before heading into the cellular dead zone of the southwestern badlands.
