This weathered outpost sits where Highway 230 crosses the Encampment River, serving as the final resupply point before you disappear into the Sierra Madre wilderness. The store stocks basic groceries, camping supplies, fishing gear, and maintains a decent selection of beer and ice. Gas pumps out front handle regular unleaded and diesel — not always the cheapest, but reliable when you need it.

The locals behind the counter know every forest road, hunting unit, and fishing hole in the mountains. They’ll warn you about washed-out bridges, snow conditions, and which gates are locked. Cash preferred but cards accepted. Open daily but hours vary by season.
