Del Puerto Canyon Road Dispersed Camping

Del Puerto Canyon offers several dispersed camping spots along the winding canyon road that climbs into the Diablo Range foothills. The sites are spread out over several miles, with established fire rings and level spots for tents or small RVs. Most sites offer decent privacy with oak and chaparral providing natural windbreaks. Water is seasonal in the creek below, but don’t count on it during summer months.

Access is via paved Del Puerto Canyon Road off I-5, transitioning to gravel as you climb higher. The road can get washboarded but remains passable for most vehicles. Popular with Bay Area locals on weekends, so arrive early Friday for the best spots. Fire restrictions typically apply May through October.
