Sprawling dispersed camping area within the designated OHV zone, with sites ranging from wash bottoms to elevated flats among Joshua trees and desert scrub. Most popular area is around the main campground, but backcountry sites extend for miles. Gets absolutely packed during winter months with RV caravans and OHV groups. Vault toilets at main area, but outlying sites have zero facilities.
Access via paved Jawbone Canyon Road then maintained dirt roads. Two-wheel drive accessible to many sites, though 4WD opens up more remote options. Can be dusty and loud during peak season. Water and supplies in Ridgecrest or Tehachapi.
