Rolls Road Dispersed Area

Sonoran Desert dispersed camping near Cave Creek with saguaro-studded sites and proximity to popular 4WD trails.

This dispersed area spreads across desert washes and ridges just north of Cave Creek, offering classic Sonoran Desert camping among towering saguaros and palo verde trees. Sites naturally follow the terrain, accommodating 12-15 vehicles with good spacing. The area gets heavy use on weekends from Phoenix-area overlanders and sees consistent traffic during winter months. Fire restrictions typically in effect May through September.

Access via Forest Road 139 (Rolls Road) requires 4WD for the rougher sections but most sites accessible with high-clearance 2WD. Road can be sandy in washes and rocky on hillsides. Popular staging area for exploring nearby Tonto National Forest trails.
