The crown jewel of Iceland’s highlands, Landmannalaugar sits in a geothermal wonderland of multicolored mountains and natural hot springs. The mountain hut offers basic accommodation, camping areas, and essential services like toilets and a small shop. Hot springs right next to the camping area provide the perfect end to dusty F-road driving days.
Accessible via F208 (4WD required) from June through September. River crossings on approach can be tricky after rain. Gets absolutely packed in July-August, so arrive early or late in the day for better camping spots. The hot springs stay busy until late evening.
