Takakkaw Falls Trailhead

Gateway to Yoho's backcountry with Canada's second-highest waterfall thundering 254 meters into the Yoho Valley.

The road to this trailhead is an adventure itself — tight switchbacks climbing through dense forest before opening into the dramatic Yoho Valley. Takakkaw Falls crashes down from the Daly Glacier in a single 254-meter drop, creating mist clouds visible for miles. The parking area accommodates maybe 30 vehicles on gravel, and it fills fast during summer weekends. Multiple trails branch from here, including routes to Twin Falls and the Iceline Trail.

The access road is typically open June through October, depending on snow. RVs over 27 feet aren’t recommended due to tight turns. Arrive early or late in the day to avoid crowds and secure parking. No services at the trailhead — bring everything you need.
