Clearwater River Provincial Park Campground

Remote backcountry campground on the Clearwater River accessed via the challenging Wells Gray backcountry road system.

This rugged provincial park campground sits alongside the pristine Clearwater River, offering 8 basic sites with fire rings and pit toilets. The setting is pure wilderness — towering spruce and fir, crystal-clear water, and absolute silence except for the river’s murmur. No reservations, first-come basis, and it fills fast during salmon runs in late summer.

Access requires 45 minutes on rough gravel from the main Wells Gray Park road. The final stretch can be challenging after heavy rain, with several creek crossings and steep grades. Open May through October, weather permitting. Pack everything you need — nearest supplies are back in Clearwater, BC.
