Orroral Valley Campground — Namadgi National Park

Established Campground

Orroral Valley sits on a grassy river flat inside Namadgi National Park, surrounded by snow gum woodland and open grassland grazed flat by kangaroos. There are basic pit toilets, fire rings, and a handful of sites suitable for 4WDs and camper trailers. It gets busy on long weekends when Canberrans escape south — midweek you can usually have it to yourself. Campfires are subject to ACT seasonal restrictions; check the Parks ACT website before you light anything.

Access is via a well-graded gravel road off the Boboyan Road turnoff south of Tharwa — passable in a high-clearance 2WD in dry conditions but turns slippery after rain. Water from the Orroral River is on-site but treat it before drinking. Closest fuel and supplies are back in Tharwa or Canberra. This is your logical basecamp for any run along the Boboyan Road corridor.

River flat basecamp in ACT high country.
