Satara Rest Camp — Kruger National Park Central Hub

Established Campground

Satara is the second-largest rest camp in Kruger and the undisputed lion capital of the park. The campground runs powered and unpowered sites on flat, open ground with good shade trees. Ablution blocks are clean and regularly serviced. A shop, restaurant, and fuel station are on-site — a genuine resupply anchor for anyone running the Musth Elephant Trail south from Satara toward Pafuri. Expect it to be busy over South African school holidays; book well ahead through SANParks. Birding and game viewing from the camp perimeter alone is worth the stop.

Access is on paved park roads from the Orpen or Paul Kruger gates. All vehicles welcome. SANParks conservation fees apply on top of camping fees. Reservations through SANParks online portal are strongly recommended — walk-in availability is rare in peak season (June–September).

Lion country camp — big cats, big skies.
