Klondike Highway — Bennett Lake Southern Shore Dispersed Camp

Dispersed Camping

Bennett Lake sits just inside British Columbia along the Klondike Highway corridor, and the southern shore offers genuine dispersed camping on Crown land with jaw-dropping views of the glacier-carved lake and surrounding peaks. No facilities, no fee, no nonsense — just flat ground, cold water, and a horizon that’ll reset your brain. The ghost town of Bennett at the north end of the lake adds serious historical weight to any camp here. Expect solitude outside of summer weekends.

Access is via the South Klondike Highway (BC-2) near the BC/Yukon border, roughly 20 miles northeast of Skagway. Pullouts along the lake road vary in quality — high-clearance recommended when wet. No water source on site; treat from the lake or pack in. Season runs May through September when snow has cleared the approach. Zero cell signal.

Gold rush lakeshore with zero frills.
