Paso Queulat — Carretera Austral Hanging Glacier Canyon Viewpoint
Ventisquero Colgante is the real deal: a massive hanging glacier suspended between two black canyon walls, calving ice directly into Laguna Témpanos below. The park entrance sits right off the Carretera Austral near Puyuhuapi, and the short trail to the glacier viewpoint is one of the most rewarding 30-minute walks on the whole route. The sound of cracking ice and the color of that glacial melt lake stop people cold. Go in the morning before clouds roll in — this valley socks in fast.
CONAF manages the park with a staffed entrance booth, toilets, and a basic picnic area. Road surface to the trailhead is paved. The area can be busy in January–February. Minimal cell signal in the valley. If you’re running the Carretera Austral south, this is the POI you don’t skip — period.
