Gobi Gurvansaikhan — Moltsog Els Dune Corridor Dispersed Camp
Moltsog Els is a lesser-known dune field east of Khongoryn Els, sitting inside Gobi Gurvansaikhan National Park. The camping here is classic Gobi — you pull off the two-track onto firm desert pavement or sand-crusted gravel flats and pitch wherever the wind lets you. No facilities, no fences, no rangers checking in. Just open sky, silence, and the dune crest glowing at sunset. This section of the circuit sees far less traffic than Khongoryn, which means you may have the whole horizon to yourself.
Access is via unmarked desert tracks branching south off the main Dalanzadgad–Bayanzag route — navigation by GPS is essential, not optional. Sandy sections can catch underpowered rigs off guard; aired-down tires and a recovery kit are non-negotiable. Water must be carried from Dalanzadgad. Best season is May–June and September–October; midsummer heat in the Gobi is brutal and flash flooding across desert basins can cut tracks. Entry to Gobi Gurvansaikhan NP requires a valid park fee — pay at Dalanzadgad or the Yolyn Am entrance.
Raw Gobi dune camp, zero amenities.
