Langar — Wakhan-Pamir Confluence Viewpoint

Langar sits at one of the most dramatic river confluences in Central Asia, where the Panj tributaries merge at the far eastern end of the Wakhan Corridor. The hillside above the village is covered in Silk Road-era petroglyphs — ibex, horses, hunters carved into dark rock over thousands of years. On a clear day you’re looking into both Afghanistan across the Panj and up toward the Pamir plateau. It’s a full sensory overload and one of the last fuel and guesthouse stops before the high Pamirs swallow you whole.

The village track in is rough dirt, passable in a capable 4WD. Cell service is essentially nonexistent this far east. Confirm your GBAO permit is in order before reaching this point — checkpoints are active. Petroglyphs are above the village on the south-facing scree slope; ask a local to point the way.
