Zeya River Rail Bridge — BAM Corridor Steel Span and Taiga Gorge Viewpoint
Running the BAM road corridor between Tynda and points east, you’ll cross the Zeya River valley where the railway bridge dominates the landscape. The river cuts through dense Siberian taiga here, and the scale of the Soviet-era infrastructure against the untouched forest is genuinely arresting. This is one of those spots that puts the BAM’s ambition in perspective — thousands of kilometers of track punched through some of the most remote terrain on earth. Pull off and sit with it for a minute.
Access is along the R297 Amur Highway near Zeya. The region is open summer and early autumn — spring snowmelt makes low-water crossings of side tracks dicey. Cell service is essentially nonexistent along this stretch. Fuel up in Tynda before heading east; the next reliable stop is well over 200 km out. Self-sufficient rigs only.
Soviet steel meets Siberian taiga on the BAM.
