Tjukayirla Roadhouse Campground — Great Central Road
Tjukayirla Roadhouse sits out in the Goldfields-to-Gibson Desert country, roughly halfway between Laverton and Warburton. It’s the place most Great Central Road travellers plan their day around. Fuel, a basic roadhouse counter, meals and a camping area with powered and unpowered sites. It’s not fancy. It’s a remote outback roadhouse, and everything out here is trucked in over a lot of gravel, so expect remote-area prices and limited stock.
Camping is generally the easiest spot to land after a long day on the gravel, and it breaks the Laverton to Warburton run into two sensible legs. Opening hours, fuel types, stock, site availability and prices change, so call ahead and confirm before you commit to the gap. Carry spare fuel and water anyway. East of here you’ll cross Ngaanyatjarra Lands, where the transit permit rules apply, so sort your permits before you leave Laverton. Cell service is basically nil out here. Dry season, roughly April to September, is the sensible window.
Have a dirty day.
