Teewah Beach Camping Zone — Cooloola Beach Camp on the Double Island Point Run

Dispersed Camping

Teewah Beach is the southern half of the run to Double Island Point. It’s a wide, hard-packed beach, and you camp in the designated zones along the sand between Noosa North Shore and the Point, with the surf right outside your tent flap. The Teewah Coloured Sands stand behind you, banded in ochre and cream. There are no powered sites and no marked pitches. You pick a spot on the sand in the zone, well above the high-tide line. Expect wind, salt, and a lot of company in school holidays and long weekends. Midweek outside those periods it’s far quieter. Carry your own water, a fuel supply, and a way to take every scrap of rubbish out with you. Check current QPWS rules on fires and firewood before you leave.

You need a vehicle access permit for the beach and a separate camping permit for the zone. Book both through QPWS before you go, because cell coverage is patchy on the sand. Drive on the low-tide side of the tide table and don’t park below the high-water mark. Soft sand near the access tracks can bog an unprepared rig, so drop your tyre pressures first. Verify zone boundaries, permit prices and any closures with QPWS ahead of time. Beach conditions change after storms and cyclone swells.
