Pascagoula River Wildlife Management Area
This 35,000-acre wildlife management area protects critical bottomland hardwood habitat along the Pascagoula River. Multiple primitive camping areas accessible via sandy roads, most requiring high-clearance vehicles during wet periods. The area is known for excellent fishing, hunting, and birdwatching. Several boat launches provide river access.
Roads can become impassable after heavy rain, and some camping spots may flood during high water. Best access is from Highway 63 near Lucedale. The area is popular with hunters during deer and turkey seasons (fall through early spring). Summer camping can be buggy but offers good bass fishing opportunities.
