Parque Nacional Natural Serranía de los Churumbelos Camping Bajo Moncayo
Tucked into the cloud forest at 2,400 meters, this is camping for serious backcountry travelers. Five designated sites with basic fire rings, surrounded by some of Colombia’s most pristine montane forest. The park sees maybe 200 visitors per year — you’ll likely have it to yourself. Cold nights year-round, frequent fog, and the kind of silence you forget exists.
Access requires 4WD and a permit from Corpoamazonia. The final 12 kilometers from the village of San Antonio climb through rutted clay that becomes impassable when wet. Best approached in dry season (June-August, December-February). No facilities beyond pit toilets — pack everything in, pack everything out.
