Osage Hills State Park Horse Camp
This primitive horse camp sits on a ridge overlooking Sand Creek valley, with scattered campsites under native oaks and blackjacks. Each site has a fire ring and access to communal water spigots, but no hookups or formal restrooms—just a pit toilet at the trailhead. The atmosphere is old-school camping: quiet, dark nights and morning fog rolling through the creek bottoms.
The campground serves as basecamp for both horseback riders and 4WD explorers tackling the network of ranch roads that crisscross the Osage Hills. Sites can handle truck-and-trailer combinations, but the access road gets muddy when wet. No reservations taken—it’s first-come camping with an honor-system payment box.
