Nockamixon State Park North Woods Fire Road Dispersed Area
The northern section of Nockamixon State Park has several old fire roads that lead to small clearings suitable for dispersed camping. These sites are technically within park boundaries but far enough from the developed areas that they’re rarely patrolled. The terrain is rolling hardwood forest with decent privacy between sites. Most clearings can handle 2-3 vehicles comfortably, with total capacity around 8-10 vehicles spread across the network of roads.
Access is via Stump Road or Ridge Road off Route 563 — both deteriorate to rough dirt tracks within a mile. The roads can be challenging after rain with deep ruts and mud holes that require 4WD. No amenities beyond what nature provides, and water must be packed in. Hunting season brings increased activity, so plan accordingly or avoid those periods entirely.
