Newman Caravan Park — Capricorn Holiday Park
Newman is the final real town before overlanders push north or south on the CSR, and Capricorn Holiday Park is where you do your last laundry, top up every water container, and check your recovery kit one more time. Powered and unpowered sites, hot showers, dump station — the full works. It fills up with mining contractors and grey nomads doing the Pilbara circuit, so book ahead during the dry season peak (May–September). Vibe is functional, not scenic, but that’s not why you’re here.
Newman sits on the sealed Great Northern Highway, roughly 200 km north of Meekatharra. CSR Well 36 is your first significant waypoint once you head south into the Gibson. Fuel up at the BP or Coles Express in town — next reliable fuel is Wiluna, 330 km south. Check road conditions with DBCA’s Karijini office before departing.
Last shower before the Gibson swallows you.
