Mineral Creek Campground

Small USFS campground along Mineral Creek with direct access to several 4x4 trails including the Alpine Loop.

This small Forest Service campground sits along Mineral Creek about 5 miles southwest of Silverton, offering 7 sites tucked among spruce and aspen. Most sites can handle rigs up to 25 feet, with vault toilets and fire rings but no water. It’s a solid base camp for running the Alpine Loop, Cinnamon Pass, and other area trails — you’re literally at the trailhead for several routes.

The road in is decent gravel suitable for any vehicle, though sites fill quickly during summer weekends. Elevation keeps things cool even in July. No reservations, so show up early or have a backup plan. Popular with the jeep crowd during Jeep Week in late July.
