Matterhorn Campground sits along the Uncompahgre River just 2 miles north of Ouray, offering 28 sites in a mixed aspen and conifer forest. Sites accommodate RVs up to 35 feet with picnic tables and fire rings. Flush toilets, potable water, and trash service make this a comfortable base camp for exploring Black Bear Pass, Yankee Boy Basin, and other San Juan trails. Sites fill quickly during summer peak season.
Access via paved US Highway 550, making it suitable for any vehicle. Elevation sits around 8,000 feet with cooler nights even in summer. Reservations recommended May through September. The campground operates roughly mid-May to late September depending on snow and weather conditions.
