Los Padres National Forest Nacimiento-Fergusson Road Dispersed Sites

Dispersed Camping

This historic mountain road winds through oak woodlands and chaparral, offering scattered dispersed camping opportunities with views toward the Pacific. Sites are tucked among live oaks and madrone trees, providing natural shade and windbreaks. Popular with motorcycle tourers and overlanders exploring the coastal range, with moderate use on weekends during good weather.

Access from either Nacimiento or Jolon depending on route preference – road is paved but narrow and winding. Fire restrictions typically in effect May through October. Some sites require short walks from parking areas. Check road conditions before attempting in wet weather as clay sections become impassable when saturated.
