Lawrence’s Spring (Ain Shelaaleh) — Jebel Rum Hillside Spring
Lawrence’s Spring sits on the hillside of Jebel Rum, a short run from Rum Village. It’s a small seep feeding a stone-lined basin, with a few green patches clinging to the rock. Local guides will tell you Lawrence of Arabia watered here during the Arab Revolt, and the story is part of the standard Wadi Rum route. Still, the real payoff is the sandstone wall behind it and the wide valley view once you scramble up the rock steps. Bring decent shoes. The climb is short but loose, and you won’t want to do it in flip-flops.
It’s an easy stop on any Rum Village to Burdah track run, and it makes a good first or last stop to shake the legs out. Mornings and late afternoons are best, since midday sun on the rock is brutal. Water flow varies by season and year, so don’t plan on it for drinking or filling tanks. Sand tracks around the village shift, so check current access rules and vehicle requirements at the Wadi Rum Visitor Center before you roll in. Verify ahead.
Have a dirty day.
